University of Minnesota – Campus Life & Resources

Outside of NROTC commitments, University of Minnesota Midshipmen enjoy access to an exceptional range of resources and extracurricular opportunities. With more than 1000 registered student groups including clubs focused on robotics, debate, dance, and a variety of intramural sports students can pursue almost any interest or hobby alongside their academic and NROTC responsibilities.

The University Armory, home to NROTC Twin Cities, is located just a short walk from the University Recreation and Wellness Center, a world-class facility featuring basketball and volleyball courts, dance studios, a 200-meter indoor track, extensive weightlifting areas, a natatorium, and a rock-climbing wall. Many Midshipmen utilize these facilities to supplement Battalion physical training, while the nearby network of running and biking trails offers easy access to outdoor exercise and recreation.

When it’s time to relax or study, students can choose from five campus libraries and numerous coffee shops spread throughout campus. Nearby neighborhoods like Stadium Village and Dinkytown provide convenient dining, shopping, and social options, both within a ten-minute walk from the Armory.

Athletics are a defining part of campus life. Whether joining the roar of the crowd at a Gopher hockey game, attending a football Saturday at
Huntington Bank Stadium, or enjoying a student theatre or orchestra performance, University of Minnesota students experience a vibrant and spirited campus culture. A quick ride on the Metro Green Line light rail connects students directly to downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul, offering easy access to professional sports venues, concerts, museums, and other city attractions.
