Academics & Counseling

The University of Minnesota NROTC Battalion is committed to helping every midshipman succeed in the classroom and in training. Academic performance, leadership development, and personal readiness all play a vital role in becoming a Navy or Marine Corps officer.

Academic Support

Midshipmen are encouraged to meet regularly with their NROTC advisor for guidance on degree planning, course selection, and time management. Our staff monitors overall academic progress and provides direction when challenges arise, ensuring each student remains on track for graduation and commissioning.

Regulations for Officer Development

The Regulations for Officer Development (NSTC M-1533.2) govern nearly all aspects of midshipmen operations, including academic standards and counseling procedures. These policies outline expectations for classroom performance, professional conduct, and continued eligibility within the program.

Getting Help

Students who need extra academic support or personal guidance can contact their NROTC advisor or visit the Armory office during normal hours. Tutoring, study groups, and university academic resources are also available through the University of Minnesota.
