NROTC College Program Overview

Program Information
Students who are not selected for the National NROTC Scholarship are encouraged to apply for the NROTC College Program. The College Program allows qualified students to participate fully in NROTC activities and work toward earning a 3, 2, or 1 year scholarship or Advanced Standing.
While College Program Midshipmen do not receive scholarship benefits or attend summer training, they are held to the same standards of conduct, academics, and participation as scholarship students.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the College Program at the University of Minnesota NROTC, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be admitted to or currently enrolled at one of the following institutions:

    • University of Minnesota – Twin Cities

    • University of St. Thomas

    • Macalester College
       
      (No exceptions to this policy.)

  • Be a U.S. citizen or in the process of becoming a naturalized citizen.

  • Be no older than 27 years old by December 31 of the year you expect to graduate and commission.

  • If already enrolled in college, be in your freshman or sophomore year.

  • Meet Navy height and weight standards and be physically qualified for admittance into the Armed Forces.
