Gunnery Sergeant Joseph Stoker


Gunnery Sergeant Joseph B. Stoker was born in Baton Rouge, LA on December 20, 1981. On May 05, 2008 Gunnery Sergeant Stoker enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Private First Class Stoker graduated recruit training in August 2008 at MCRD San Diego, CA and then reported Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry (West) aboard MCB Camp Pendleton, CA. 


After completion of Marine Combat Training Private First Class Stoker then reported to MATSS-1, NAS Meridian, MS for MOS school and graduated with the MOS of 6042, Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Asset Manager. 


Following MOS school Private First Class Stoker executed orders to MALS-11, MAG-11, MCAS Miramar to serve as an IMRL Asset Manager. In 2010 Corporal Stoker augmented to MALS-16 (FWD) and deployed to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan where he served as the Local Asset Management System (LAMS) NCOIC for the forward IMRL Division. During this time Corporal Stoker attended and graduated Corporals Course aboard Camp Leatherneck. In 2011 Corporal Stoker was sent to VMFA(AW)-121 to serve as the IMRL NCOIC and program manager. In 2012 Sergeant Stoker attended and graduated Sergeants Course. 


In July of 2012, Sergeant Stoker reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA. Upon completion was assigned to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Company K, where he served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In October 2015, Sergeant Stoker executed orders to MWHS-3, 3D MAW, MCAS Miramar, CA and served as a 3D MAW IMRL Advocate and a member of the Aviation Logistics Management Assist Team (ALMAT). 


In 2017 Staff Sergeant Stoker was selected for Presidential Support Duty at Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) and executed orders in April to Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA where he served as the HMX-1 IMRL Division Chief and Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.


In November 2019 Staff Sergeant Stoker was selected for duty as Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI) at the University of Minnesota. In February of 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant


Gunnery Sergeant Stoker’s personal awards include (2) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, (9) Certificates of Commendation, and (3) Meritorious Masts.
